Problems with Yahoo Messenger 11

I have been repeatedly been trying to upgrade to Yahoo Messenger 11 on my Toshiba Satellite L657D.  I have not been able to make video or voice calls to anyone, even people who also have Messenger 11 and 10, which should work.  I have contacted Yahoo about this problem and after working with them for a couple of hours there was not resolution of the problem.  I also have another desktop (HP) and Messenger 11 works just fine there.  Both computers have the same firewall settings etc.  Both go through the same wireless router. ( Even with a direct connection to my cable modem, Messenger 11 on the Toshiba doesn’t work)  If I down grade to Messenger 10 on the laptop everything works fine and I can make the calls.  Has anyone else had a problem like this or something similar?  Any ideas as to how to fix the problem.
