Post Apocalypse Gear

Movies like “The Road”, “The Book of Eli”, “Mad Max”, and many others make people ask questions about what would happen to them in the event of civilization breaking down. Emergency food stashes, shelters, and other supplies are being stock piled in many homes across the country. Even hunting and self defense weapons are being stored for safety purposes. I wrote this article to tell you about the gear you and your family may want to have on hand in the event of a nation wide emergency. It may even save your life one day.

Basic needs like weather protection, food, shelter, and clothing should be taken care of first. Most experts recommend stocking up on a supply of food and water that will last you three months. Grocery stores may not be easy to get to once chaos breaks out. If you want to buy night vision goggles and other fun stuff you should only do so after you have your basic needs addressed.

Clothing and shelter is usually not a problem, but you may want to make sure that you do have some camping gear in case you have to flee your home. You can buy a tent and a sleeping bag to use in emergency travel situations. Protection from the elements will vary depending on your climate, but it is never a bad idea to have the tools needed to start a fire. Fires can keep you warm, dry, safe from animals, and can even help you cook food and heat up water.

People that do not believe in guns can still buy one two very useful items for hunting and protection. A high quality knife and a nice bow with a solid supply of arrows can be very helpful. The bow can be used to hunt down small animals and the knife can be used for various purposes.

Night vision equipment can be useful for those that want to travel at night. This can be found online at www.nightvisionusa.com . Traveling and hunting at night are much easier when you are using night vision equipment. Nocturnal animals like deer, wolves, and owls can be spotted with ease using night vision binoculars and night vision sights.

There are many other items you may want to consider stocking up on, but this is a good start. When you prepare for emergencies, you increase your chances of surviving them ten fold.
